    Stoked! Doing tour for a 1st yr studio art class at on Fri. Continuously delighted & energized at the larger & larger array of people coming to the French Quarter for perhaps the first time, specifically seeking Peoples History & Black History. AND ask for xtra readings 😊

    Strikes me that Mardi Gras is during Black History Month. Memories of working for the Kern Family, seeing "under the hood:" Racism, exploitive labor practices. Parades were scary spaces for Black folx for a long time...Krewes weren't integrated til 1993.. .

    Spent 10 wks here this summer w/ 4 incredible undergrads. Came 2 know & love these folks. Stories of ppl & the environment we often choose not 2 see. Here, it's not abt "green" this/"sustainable" that. It's abt survival/dignity/the right 2 grow old & raise healthy, whole families
