Conventional wisdom: “It’s a toy! Fine for internal tools, but you couldn’t possibly write real production code that way.” In 1998, they said that about Java. In 2006, they said it about Rails. What are they saying that about today?

Aws lambda? Used it in a couple of places, heard from someone "amazon don't even use it in production"! But from only one person, mind.

Last job (recently public company, med size, Rails shop) used Lambda in deployment workflows and such. No consideration of it being toylike. Wanted to use to integrate with a Salesforce-adjacent POS (Zuora), but it couldn’t talk to Cloudfront so it couldn’t talk to AWS
