The quiet ones can be engaged. They are the more reasonable ones and open to discussion. Who knows why they voted for trump. Perhaps it’s the R. Perhaps they think Biden is a terrible candidate. Perhaps they’re scared of the threat of socialism and love their capitalism...

Regardless of the reason. Entrenching and alienating them is the wrong play. You have to seek to understand and meet them. Otherwise nothing will change. I’m not saying that’s right. I’m saying that’s what will change things, finding the quiet Trumpers and appealing to them.

I think Trump is a deplorable person. Even if I agreed with every single one of his policies, I couldn’t bring myself to vote for such a disgusting person. But some people put issues over the person.

why the hell would it be drswellman's or countdown's or my job to engage these people? we have absolutely no expertise in swinging hearts, and we especially can't do it over twitter. we are allowed to feel the pain that these people's actions cause.

It’s y’all’s job because you seek change. If everyone thinks it’s not their job, nothing will change.

is it crazy to think that it's mostly the job of the political candidate backed by an enormously entrenched political machine??????????????????????????????????????? like what? why on earth are you trying to put the blame on us?

ffs, i'm doing it right now, with you! i can't even win against someone who purports to be on my "side!" clearly it's not fucking working! maybe this type of thing should be left to people with expertise in this sort of interaction!

Well that’s fair. The DNC doesn’t serve the interests of the people. They proved that 2 elections in a row. Biden and Clinton were put forward by the machine. They can’t do it, so it’s up to everyone else unfortunately.

Despite all this, Biden just has to win NV, WI, and MI and he wins. And he’s currently leading all those states. So there’s still a clear path to victory. And then we’ll all be singing a different tune

look man, i appreciate the conversation, but i won't be singing a (much) different tune. it shouldn't be this close. donald trump is a failed president by several objective measures, not the least of which is 250k straight up preventable deaths. it shouldn't be this hard to win

the dems have run a bad campaign, but 60,000,000+ people are complicit in this absolute disaster of a presidency. i haven't the slightest idea about how to go about engaging them, and apparently neither does an extremely well-resourced organization dedicated to this exact task
