i don't think the issue is whether or not you voted for trump, i think the issue is that you're waving away affected people's pain and the resulting manifestations of that pain as generally "uncivil" and "polarized." it's "moderate" ideology generally shown to favor status quo

That was never my intention and making that leap seems dishonest. Extrapolating your conclusion from asking for discussion before ending relationships seems like a big leap.

what? you said that the original sentiment only serves to "poralize," and that you are only trying to engage in "civil" discussion. these are your words, not mine. i am honestly interpreting the tweets you're responding to as people's pain

i believe that it's not your intention to support the status quo, but i'm saying that there are generations of thinkers, including, for exmample, MLK Jr., who would say that these types of actions do support the status quo

The quiet ones can be engaged. They are the more reasonable ones and open to discussion. Who knows why they voted for trump. Perhaps it’s the R. Perhaps they think Biden is a terrible candidate. Perhaps they’re scared of the threat of socialism and love their capitalism...
