i'm 13-37 in my last 50 games of sc2. i'm trying very very hard to improve, and i'm trying many different approaches toward improving, but none of it is translating to wins. i've been stuck at the same mmr range for multiple years. i don't want to give up but idk what to do

yeah, this is one of the things that i have been making a sincere effort to try! actually, as an example, i have been able to copy the first 7 minutes and 57 seconds of the most recent stats vs TY build *exactly* in multiple games

at 7:57 on eternal empire vs TY, stats has +1 atk finished, 126 supply, 3 colossi, 1 prism, 3 sentries, 4 stalkers, 2 archons, 6 zealots, 72 probes, 4th base + 2nd robo on the way, with his army moving out and a prism setting up to drop

i have a couple replays where this is my *exact* setup at 7:57. but it doesn't inherently translate to a win, because i still have to have an intuition about what to do with my army, and idk how to "copy" that decision making process if i can't see every situation

i think a lot of top level players are out of touch with how to progress in lower league games like this. as an example, watch harstem's recent video where he tries to guess people's leagues. he is super bad at it, because actually people are good at things even at gold level

What you did, putting effort to copying scrupulously that Stats build is very good, I'm sure you got better through it. BUT. I have one more advice for you. You should pick a more "rewarding" build to copy. Pick something aggressive, either timing pressure or heavy harass.

I could speak for hours about this, and all the reasons why short game plans are better if you aim to get better as fast as possible (shorter games -> more games -> you get to improve faster on the early part of the game, less chances to get lost in the ocean of decision making~)

Make sure you identify the first mistakes you make after each game, you might want to not even look at what happens later in the game since first mistakes are THAT MUCH MORE important to fix first !

I used to play 4 gate blink or dt openings in pvt 1-2 months ago, maybe I can switch back to that. I'm good at hitting strong timings like that though and sometimes I feel like I win too many games before actually getting to parts that I need more practice with

I don't think I'm framing those games like you are though, it's a great point that shorter games-> more practice. And I can control to an extent how long the game goes. So maybe I can revisit this approach
