What exactly does "when you stop getting angry when you lose, you've lost twice" mean then? You don't have to get angry about your losses to improve... what if you just feel joy/fulfillment when you perform well, and you work hard to achieve that feeling for yourself?

I have a long history of being a top level speedrunner, and sure I would get frustrated at the game sometimes because I'm competitive. But I was always driven to go faster because I loved being a good speedrunner, not because I hated being a bad one...
