also if we're splitting hairs over an 11 refinery vs a 12 refinery in hots because one gives you an extra reaper, then yes viking (75 gas) vs liberator (150 gas) off 1-1-1 are 2 different builds because they probably affect other gas spending options.................

This comment is ignorant, tiki. You’re comparing an opener, a choice made before the game even starts which is enacted upon at the very start of the game, to a decision on making a unit with starport tech. Don’t be disingenuous in your argument.

regardless of the reason you made one unit over another, it has strategic implications on the rest of your build, which, in my eyes, adds to the "strategic depth" of the game. just because it didn't stem from the plan you had before the game started doesn't mean it's not strategy
