I’ve had a lot of people talking to me about the Thing I Hate In Endgame and how it’s actually okay because it doesn’t break the movie’s “technical” rules if you do a lot of logical leg work and assuming about things happening off screen —

a.) I’m glad people are willing to do that work and make themselves happy!! I’m not tho. That’s okay. I respect the hell out of people who are. B.) the technicalities of whether or not it breaks the movie’s rules is...really not the reason I hated the moment.

The technical stuff is annoying to me but my actual problem has A LOT less to do with the nuts and bolts of comic book physics and everything to do with pay offs for big thematic arcs and narrative emphasis over 3 entire movies.

Replying to @rustypolished
sometimes I can’t believe what straight people will accept as “romance”. One kiss? Not even a single date? The emotional labor/investment that went into steve & bucky’s relationship dwarfed any other in the mcu, but it was thrown away for an idealized fantasy/unearned payoff.

And then we get bullshit like “come on two guys can’t just be friends?” Like? Okay fine let’s say they’re just friends whatever even in a universe where Steve isn’t in love with Bucky Like That, he still would never have done what he did??
