I'm here for the Eragon shade. That is an unreadably bad book that is also a perfect example of how connections and nepotism FAR outweigh talent when it comes to deciding who gets published. Another reason the published author pool is so white.

Absolutely agree w/you re: the published author pool skewing far too white. At the time Paolini wrote this, he was 15 and hailed as a wunderkind. Not having read the book, I can’t vouch for it, but I try to keep his age at publication in mind.
