Amazon rep: “This was an extremely rare occurrence.“ So we’ll just take your word for it then? This is why we need transparency and accountability on privacy. Esp for tech cos like Amazon that are omnipresent in consumer lives AND also supply tech/services to gov/military/LE.

Many large tech companies (inc. Amazon, Google, Facebook, Microsoft) sell tech/services to gov, military, law enforcement, and political campaigns. Reminder that there is no privacy policy for the Amazon Echo or any Amazon Alexa devices. The TOS only refers to the http://Amazon.com privacy policy, which does not include details on recording, voice data security, etc. https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201809740 …

Technically there is no reason whatsoever this would be extremely rare. It should be impossible. Also. This proves it is possible and happens outside of operational expectations (and design?)
