Today marks the end of the manual recount—but this race is not over. We will continue fighting to make sure that every valid vote is counted.
There are hundreds of ballots cast by eligible and registered Queens Democrats that were wrongly invalidated. Our campaign will be in court to protect Queens voters from being disenfranchised by New York’s restrictive and undemocratic voting laws.
I am incredibly proud of the volunteer energy and beautiful coalition that have propelled this campaign to fearlessly take on the county machine. We’ve built the largest, most diverse grassroots movement this borough has seen.
We built a coalition of people of color, undocumented immigrants, sex workers & LGBTQIA+ communities that want real justice. That called for a fair and equitable criminal justice system that ends mass incarceration, decriminalizes poverty, and puts our communities first.
This campaign was motivated by and built on the commitment to centering community voices. There’s no more important way to do that than to ensure their votes are counted.
