The reason we should avoid the word "accident" is because it prejudges the innocence of the driver. "Wala namang may gustong mangyari to" is not helpful.
If it comes out that he drove up the sidewalk intentionally, that's no "accident"

We always treat car crashes like natural phenomena, like storms or hot days. "Died in an accident" is a frequent plot device to create a tragic backstory in childrens' movies.
But none of this is natural. It's the violent, preventable result of intentional choices.
