Lithium & transmission get a lot of attention as constraints on renewables growth. Less discussed, but more pressing, are tax equity capacity, interconnection agreements, & reg agency staffing shortages. Path to decarbonization is much easier to model than execute in real world.

“Governor Gavin Newsom says he expects to collaborate with lawmakers this year on reforms to the state’s environmental review law, which has been used repeatedly by opponents of development to block construction.”

Gas industry has hired Dems to help brand methane as "cheap" & "clean." Both false, but sound familiar? In 2007 the coal industry used similar tactics for the now infamous “clean coal” campaign.

Michigan's PSC found that an investor-owned utility can't make its customers pay for energy from a pricey coal plant it happens to own. PSC disallowed over $1M(!) in costs.

Last three days of Democratic Party fundraising spam have dropped adding the deceptive STOP2END message and are instead not prompting (or honoring) any stop words at all.

Shameless replug of the first post in our new Newsroom series on transmission.
It lays out why transmission is so important for future clean energy hubs:

🤦♂️ It's a team sport, people.
Low-carbon power is low carbon power.
Having some nuclear/hydro/geothermal will lower system costs by reducing the need to overbuild wind/solar/batteries/transmission. And a grid with some wind/solar will be cheaper than all-nuclear. Team effort! twitter.com/LionHirth/stat

It's hard to keep reading stories like this and not conclude that avoided emission credits are a catastrophe.

It'd be great if we just approved as much housing as it took to reduce prices rather than focusing on pseudoscientific estimates of "housing need." If we fail? "Oh no, lots of new higher-quality homes and more people living in our most productive and sustainable cities!! 😱😭"

A polyculture of wheat grown with walnut trees produces ~ 40% higher yields.
1 hectare of wheat/walnut mix yields the same as 1.4 hectares of each crop grown separately.
This is an example of overyielding.

NEPA & state-level "baby NEPA" equivalents are not environmental laws!
They are preservation procedure laws!
NEPA's goal is to conserve the world **exactly** as it was in the 1970s--even when that entails skeptical review of any changes to the character of historic pollutants twitter.com/DavidZahniser/
