This shit is wicked. I'm glad a memorial for Lorena Borjas could happen. But it was awful we couldn't hug—& wretched hearing all these femme Latinx transgender immigrants recall not just this trauma, but all the fucking trauma they've been through (that Lorena tried to soothe).

There was such palpable grief and trauma at this funeral. And it wasn't just for Lorena herself, but for all the trauma she fought in life, which made her more susceptible to this COVID death and which her survivors still face. such compounded trauma is gonna hit some folx HARD.

The sheer amount of pain these trans Latinx immigrants had endured—and that someone like Lorena Borjas dedicated her life to attending to that pain and giving all she had to her community, despite being of modest means herself and only to be taken away—makes you wanna holler.
