Sticking to sports is a good next step. Dropping sports in favour of absolutely nothing else would then be the next logical follow up.

This is what Simmons is best at. The guy produced 30 for 30 created Grantland, and is one of the pioneers of sports blogging. To think he wouldnt be a valuable assett to HBO is ignorant. The mistake they made was letting him be someone hes not. His show just needed a better host.

He's definitely got the better end of the deal. HBO can get almost any talent they want. Bill Simmons is lucky he's wanted there.

True. I will say, I liked the interview format for the show. Getting guest from different worlds to talk together was interesting. But everything else was pretty weak.

I liked that part too. The monologue was so uncomfortable/awkward but yeah his blandness is ok when guests are interesting.

Lol considering what Disney and fox have rolled out for their sports talk. Simmons is still elite in the industry.
