Cities that switch to priority-based #budgeting change everything. Maps every single dollar a city spends to a specific program — everything from “rodent baiting” to recycling collection — then scores each according to how it achieves city’s priorities.

He was a legend and his rich legacy shall remain alive. For us students of architecture, he was and is an idol and a master. Today’s is a profound moment and yet this news makes all followers of architecture immensely sad as well. R.I.P sir !

Legendary Indian architect and the only Indian winner of the Pritzker Architecture award, Balkrishna V Doshi (1927-2023), passed away today, aged 95. A personal tribute to a person I barely knew but in whose creations I had the privilege to work in, and feel inspired (1/n)

Apple Music chooses this as the cover for Delhi city. It’s a relief, and def a shift from the iconographic representation of the city. For me this is indeed the real Delhi. And in any case the iconic spots don’t echo the spirit of the city anyway! But Ironic isn’t it!

Imagine having an economic system where ecologically urgent and socially necessary things (renewable energy, public transit, affordable housing) are not produced simply because rich people cannot make enough profits doing so. Irrational barely begins to describe it.

Create opportunities for woman to work and live in the city but what do you do about the societal psyche that still considers working women a big social taboo

When the war ends, fighting in Bakhmut in Ukraine will be remembered as some of the fiercest since WW-2. New before & after images. Schools and building in Soledar in August vs all that remains now. 📸:@Maxar #Ukraine

Metro and bus systems now have systems to do real time tracking and online fare integration. What’s required as the next step is to now integrate both systems for consumer convenience

Another indication on how complex the governance systems of our cities are . SPV have to embedded within the system.otherwise figuring out complexities of the system and its management gets tedious.Inaction obviously follows. What is it that we are not getting right?

A city can not develop or become "smart" or improve liveability by creation of such institutions causing multiplicity, lack of accountability & responsibility. IMO SmartCities & many such SPVs don't have any place in a democratic setup & for urban planning and/or management

Not sure if this is the right comparison. Delhi is more like a city.. Would this be the case with major cities of all states?

Animation: If every State in India lived as densely as Delhi – they can fit within the blue regions. All of India would fit into one nice small blue area in the end.
