Yes it's unusual isn't it: rape is from the Latin for turnip (referring to turnip-like root it has); broom is the plant that the first described species parasites.
The rather spectacular broomrape that appeared spontaneously by our Merton Border, now in full bloom, has revealed itself to be an ivy broomrape (Orobanche hederae)...parasitising an Eryngium! (Which it does occasionally but it’s unusual) @BSBIbotanypic.twitter.com/d3QxsjIgVK
