Boyhood friend of Jim McCormick & King Kelly in Paterson, NJ and they played together in the bigs too. Mac began his career as Nolan’s “change pitcher” on the Blues.

Was there a reason Indy let him go in 1878? And what would be a reason he was not picked up for 1879?

Am pretty sure that Nolan was banned from the NL (or maybe just his club?) after the 1878 season. Haven't fully connected the dots, but it looks like he played in California after the 1878 season under the name Warren. Cincinnati Enquirer of Nov. 28, 1878:pic.twitter.com/G4STvNZUL0

Indianapolis was excised from the National League after 1878 and the sore-armed Nolan, who had been shelled, went west, playing third base under his own name in 1879-1880. The "Warren" name is new to me. The clip is from the Chicago Tribune on May 5, 1878.pic.twitter.com/2PNiJtHPXx

My last name is Nolan. This makes me happy and sad at the same time. 😧

Underhand at 80 mph from 45 feet is like Gerrit Cole from 60'6".
