I ended up using the Apple Store credit to buy the iTunes gift card physically at Apple Store. 
I just made the mistake of buying a Store card when I wanted to get an iTunes card for dad. Seriously, why two different cards?

the fact that so many people are undecided on size feels like a failure to me. there should be The One like @jiggityk said. un-apple-y
