Westerners who say "The Hong Kong police have been restrained, if that happened here they would be shot...". Luckily you'll probably never find out as you live in a democracy and won't have to fight for that right, so probably best to shut up saying absolute nonsense.

They can exercise their power by voting. What can the Hong Kong people do?

Yeah exactly and it's more than that, the statement just isn't true, so it's wrong on 2 fronts. It's just an insulting an arrogant comment.

HK protestors VS HK police: Protestors: equipped but far from "armed", accountable for any illegal actions Police: well armed, accountable for excessive force in law but not in real practice I think the most important point comes to accountability-the different consequences.

I find that the group that tends to be most hostile to HK protesters online are actually Singaporeans.

Well said. I wish no one has to been through what’s happening in #HongKong. You don’t know how we feel everyday watching our #HongKongProtesters fighting so hard for freedom. They’ve been tortured by riot police and yet not given up. We’re so proud of them, no matter what

Thank you for showing your empathy to Hong Kong protestors. We are fighting for independence of justice and freedom of press which are born to be human right. Hope there is not a day we are no longer able to use Twitter. #StandWithHongKong

Yes, exactly. Thanks for the empathy instead of complaining about yoga class got cancelled and whining about the inconveniences. This movement gave me a real chance to see the real side of people whom I once thought I knew...

Exactly ! The #HongKongPolice drag the protestor on the rocky floor and violently step on his neck directly after he got arrested :( please save the kids. We never know if this is our last time to see them :( #PolyU #SosPolyU #SosHongKong #HongKong #HongKongProtestspic.twitter.com/nL5O6MVHl2

The fact the the system in HK wouldn’t allow a democratic way to say NO to the govt is exactly why we have to keep fighting.
