I think he's likely right unless there are some very close state results which are contested by Trump. but having to rely on the GOP leadership to abandon Trump over this--to finally draw a line--when they've shown no appetite for doing so over any other outrage is worrisome.
The GOP has had this identity problem since the tea party. When wealthy, sanctimonious white people, who are corporate socialists e.g. $20B in fossil fuel bailouts 2019, complain about “too much $ for the vulnerable” & won’t pass the Cares Act. They are already lost.
