I’m really stupefied by @Google’s @TeamYouTube recent actions (or should I say lack of action?). Sadly not surprised. @YouTube has been working against the #LGBTQ community as well as ‘unconventional’ creators in general for years now, despite their ‘pro-inclusivity’ campaigns.

@gaywonk’s videos on @voxdotcom are well done and informative. Regardless of whatever criteria. It’s a human making videos. The rest doesn’t matter. Even if the videos were bad, criticizing the host instead of the content only shifts the attention from the problem they question.

I see more and more @YTCreators getting censored or demonetized. Like @WattsTheSafewrd for example, making great and much needed #SexEducation content. Or artsy channels, we’re @YouTube mixes nudity with sexuality as if it was the same thing.

It is clear now that @Google’s interest is not to support creators, the ones that take risks, creating real original content. But rather securing its revenues by only allowing flat, smooth, low-value, manufactured, fast-food content. Appealing to the masses, and the advertisers.

I wish @YouTube was a platform where original and creative ideas could thrive, be discussed, debated, shared and featured equally with care and love. The fear of @Google’s own #LGBTQ employees to speak up freely just speaks for itself. @TeamYouTube’s policies are just smoke.

I don’t have a @Google account because I’m not using any of its services, except @YouTube. Not for its social platform features, just for its vast library of content. To stay updated when new content is posted, I use a #RSS #bot on @telegram (tip: any channel URL is a RSS feed).

So after what happened in the past days, I took the decision to go one step further: #LeaveYouTube one and for all. I think @YouTube does not deserve to make any more profits with my data or views. @Google lost my trust and failed to comply with its own motto: “Don’t be evil”.

What about the creators then? Most of them (good and bad ones) already generate their revenues elsewhere by selling merchandise, via @Patreon or else. Highlighting by the way how broken @YouTube’s system and policies are and how they are enforced.

What about me? I’m going through every single channel I was following, hoping they are posting their content elsewhere. And there are alternatives, like @joinpeertube just to name one of them. I just grab the #RSS feed, add it to my #RSSReader #bot, and voilà!

To the creators: don’t let @YouTube/@Google/@TeamYouTube or anyone else use you, your content, your influence and your image to make profits and then stab you in the back.

To the viewers: you have the power to act, you’re the one giving money to @Google by using @YouTube. Find alternatives. Ask your favorite channels to post their content elsewhere, where the only juge is the audience.

Let’s start questioning the choices we make as a user or a customer, questioning if we agree or not on how things work backstage. I’d like to finish with a quote: “If you want to make the world a better place, take a look at yourself, and make a change.” (@DCBatman said that)pic.twitter.com/U4zUFF1wH6

Still astonished by @Google’s response and behavior. The company is now saying the protest of its own employees “is a violation of [its] communications policy, a part of the company code of conduct”. @NoPrideForGoog just published this 👇 have a look.https://link.medium.com/2stF7xp5PX
