Trying to apply this thought to different software products, and I question the love some really have and their software is still good.
It’s really really hard, maybe impossible, to build truly delightful software unless you genuinely love your customer.

This is why building something for yourself is so effective. Most people have to learn what you just said. When doing it for yourself, it becomes second nature

What this really means is that you apply yourself and pour yourself into developing a product. People can tell when a product is developed carefully and thoughtfully even if not perfectly.
