Wonder if anyone that follows me on Twitter is like an amazing guitarist or guitar teacher. Been playing guitar for years casually but decided that this year I'll make an effort to be decent, realised I have way too many bad habits. Could use the help!

Learn songs and learn to feel what you play. Don't focus on technique until you get more advanced.
I know lots of songs, my problem is with technique really. If I compare what I play vs what other people play, it feels like I'm hitting notes rather than playing a song, if you know what I mean.

Yes know exactly what you mean. That's what I meant by learning to feel what you play. Anyone can strike the notes John Frusciante does but for them to sound so soulful takes feel and the ability to commute emotion through your instrument. Takes time to learn how to do that

Try focusing more on note length. One thing ppl overlook is the way notes blend into each other. Eliminate the small pauses between notes, that gives your playing a smoother feel. Idk if that's your issue, just a thought :)
