The Pixel 4 facial recognition works even if you're asleep / dead. That seems problematic #madebygoogle #pixel4

Just to add: I didn't turn any settings off. There is no setting for "eyes open" on this phone. It is running the latest OS. Maybe this feature will arrive at some point, but that's not what they gave me to review

Google has confirmed to me: this is how Face Unlock will work when the Pixel 4 goes on sale. There will not be a "require eyes to be open" option at launch. #madebygoogle #pixel4

Can I see proof that it works when you're dead? It most likely uses the infrared cameras to look for heat as well, so you might have to wait several hours to get an accurate test.

Chris, try placing phone face down. Walk away. Close eyes. Now walk up with eyes shut & see if it unlocks. The radar detects quite early on.. this way should verify completely whether it’s a fail or not.

I think you are over simplifying this Chris. Google detects when the phone changes to a different user by motion sensors, so it already knows it's the same person holding the phone Why don't u lock the phone, set it down, facedown, now approach phone close eyes and lift phone.
