Before I got brought into my union my days were pretty grim & the future felt hopeless. Finding out that there was a way out of precarity changes everything for many workers & just having the sense of dignity a union provides is life changing. Best gift you could give is hope!

Tomorrow, the @cityoftoronto will launch its first pothole repair blitz of the year to keep our roads in a state of good repair. City crews will work a 12-hour shift, from 6AM-6PM, to repair as many potholes as possible across the city.

Hi I’m a big developer and I just can’t wait for the city to let me build so many houses and condos that the price of my product will go down even though my fixed costs won’t and also I could just decide not to lower the price. But yeah YIMBYs are smart people

You could actually say this about YIMBYs

This. Most 'consultations' are consensus-laundering, allowing those with the most free time and resources to cosplay as 'the people', while the majority of those impacted by the resulting policy are shut out of the process. twitter.com/Ramsey_Kilani/…

Tech Bro just inventing straw men left right and centre. He might have blocked me back can't hide his bad faith arguments from me

Look at this hero making a real difference in the community, driving down from his home in York Region to punish the poor people riding the subway while he earns 6 figures doing it. Inspiring

Over 100 riders were turned away after 1-hour of monitoring. Do you know what part is frustrating? They have a valid Presto card or money to pay. They choose not to pay & argue with Police & TTC staff. Fair Evasion penalty of $425. Pay your ride as others do. #TTC

I've learned this weekend that as a person of colour who lives and takes transit downtown, I don't care about trees. That's according to Toronto's Twitter "urbanists" who are definitely not bad faith merchants slinging bullshit in an echo chamber.

Playing weird 80s and 90s music that I call “sexy religious” in my new apartment so that my neighbours think I’m really weird

Has anyone ever produced their neighbour to turn down their music cuz I think I just did. I just made a hell of sub bass and pointed my speakers at our shared wall and they turned their shit down after

I have participated in consultations on gig work law with this government and this completely untrue

CafeTo made this city better and the small minds that run it are about to destroy it. We are governed by the mediocre
Quote Tweet
Mayor Tory's executive committee is set to debate changes to CafeTO this morning. As @alysanmati reported last week some restaurant owners say the changes, including an annual fee and a requirement to build an accessible platform, could kill the program. thestar.com/news/gta/2023/

Cops don’t stop crime
Quote Tweet
There were more attacks on the TTC this weekend than any weekend so far this year, despite 80 additional police officers now patrolling the vast network. None of the advocates or experts we spoke to are surprised. toronto.citynews.ca/2023/01/30/ttc
This assumes that developers will just lower prices

Government fees & charges add $116,900 to the cost of a typical home in the GTA. That’s about $800 on top of a monthly mortgage payment!   We are reducing & reining in runaway fees to help more Ontarians find a home they can actually afford.

Looks like increased policing is absolutely useless but we knew that already from our neighbours down south. What if we spent money on improving society?

This mayor is deeply unserious. He pretends to be serious but he is unserious

Transit riders and workers have called for immediate action and that’s exactly what we’ve announced. On very short notice, we’ve mobilized to make our transit system safer.

Most egregious violence I’ve seen is from the police towards the unhoused
Quote Tweet
I think it’s worth noting the most egregious and sustained violence that’s happened in my 20 years in Toronto was committed by a housed business owner preying on marginalized people.
