instead of one backslash put two backslash ( \ ) means “the next character is something i cant type in normal text” like a linebreak or a tab. a backslash itself is indicated with two backslashes ( \\ ) so instead of ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ you want ¯\\_(ツ)_/¯
