i've been avoiding putting a ton of stuff about the men getting outed as abusers into the bot because i have a hard time guessing whether the stuff the random number generator puts it with will come up with a horrible combination

the way the bot works is that there are about a hundred formulas and about a thousand topics that get slotted into them; most formulas juxtapose at least 2 topics, if not more

part of rape culture is that sexual abuse is trivialized or played down-- assholes like Merkin and her NY Times editors are obviously fine with doing that; i try to hold my work to a higher ethical standard than what i'm mocking

anyway i like to say something about this every once in a while while these scandals play out because it's the topic of SO MANY shitty thinkpieces and mocking those is what this account is for

this bullshit, this dismissal of people's reactions to seeing survivors get just a fucking shrivel of justice-- that's something that's worth mocking. it's worth ridiculepic.twitter.com/hykhhXVq7Y

and honestly these fucking collaborators with rape culture, these quisling women, who are willing to sell survivors out for fucking column so that abusers can use them as a shield, deserve worse than a bit of mocking from a robot

and to those of you survivors out there who see shit like this-- especially written by people whose whole deal is supposed to be that they have experience with and empathy for people with mental health issues-- and feel like shit about it, well, you're not alone

thinkpieces like this are especially nasty because of how they're designed to get under your skin, to make you think maybe you were just being too sensitive. to keep you from saying anything, from fighting back, and from finding a path to healing

but the voice in the back of your head that's saying "maybe they're just too sensitive", or "maybe YOU'RE just too sensitive", that's rape culture, and it's bullshit. don't fucking encourage that in everyone else. survivors have enough shit to deal with

and to all the people who've been through the kind of shit she's dismissing, to any degree: your experiences are valid. it's hard enough to heal from the wounds these traumas leave without pretending they're imaginary.

the people insisting that everyone thinks in their twisted rape culture addled way aren't revealing any great truths. they're just trying to justify their callousness and cruelty. you are real and valid and strong.

sorry there's not a good way to make the bot say that in a bitterly funny, sardonic way, like most of the stuff on here. i guess that's what
@infinite_scream's for, though. take care, y'all.5 replies 0 retweets 61 likesShow this threadThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
