Apart from being (lets face it) a bit of a gobshite on here, I do like do write the odd thread, hopefully they balance the tomfoolery and shenanigans. This is a thread of those threads /1

This is a post from 2014, a look at palletised and RORO options for transport aircraft, a bit like Boxer modules!

  4. It is not as if the Poseidon has long legs to start with, it is based on a 737, a regional passenger jet, we only have 9 of them, and without a refuelling probe, not one of the RAF's Voyagers will be able to refuel it in flight. Mind the gap

  5. Lots of good news on Poseidon this week, lets not ignore that, but we also have to ask serious questions about the wisdom of selecting an aircraft that by definition needs long endurance, without any ability to be refuelled in flight by RAF aircraft

  8. The Airdyne SABIR is an interesting approach to complex system integration. No cutting holes in the aircrafts skin or routing cables through wing boxes etc., just change the door

  9. Putting all the arguments about contracts aside, in time, does it make sense to develop this capability for A400M, especially given it is more or less ready to go?

Looking for someone, old & crusty like myself, who has a copy of "Royal Engineers Vocabulary of Stores, Group 4, Section 5, Sub-Section 4: Bridging" published about 1955 - 57. Want some info from it. Can't be found in RE Museum, TNA, IWM, NAM, TICRE etc. etc.

This is awesome. Lots of applications from disaster relief, to backup for SATCOM. And how about deploying this over urban operations where you can hide your signal in the noise of local 4G/LTE, but not have the security risk of using local infrastructure?

It hasn’t got one; it’s just got a load of competing project teams dipping into a dwindling pot of cash. No strategic direction, nothing being removed from service and even worse trying to bring a load of UOR’s into core without a support package.🤔 😳
