  2. Wow. Investment manager on just now said it’s time to dump aviation, oil stocks for ethical reasons. Big polluters rapidly losing their social licence to operate

John's question: This one time, can treat this with gravity it desperately warrants? Answer: Resounding NO. did NOT treat the emergency with the gravity it desperately warrants.

  4. Think you heard from 'Irish agriculture' on tonight? If so, where were tillage, organic, HNV farmers, horticulturalists? What we got were 2 *dairy industry* reps & 1 politician to parrot dairy talking points This is a phoney "debate" hijacked by 1 sub-sector

  5. The last word to on tonight's . "I want to cry, watching this debate...did you read a different IPCC report to the one I read?...it is not net zero by 2050, it's real zero, and it's sooner than then" Well said, Saoi, well said.

  6. So, carbon tax is "crucifying" farmers who are spending €150k on tractors, according to Michael Fitznonsense Tax subsidy on Agri diesel is a half a billion euro subsidy to agriculture p.a., among many other hidden subsidies & handouts

  7. Have to agree with on carbon taxes. The 'polluter pays' principle really does work. It also helps finance the low-carbon transition. not onto a winner here IMO.

  8. It was only a matter of time before someone tried scaring us with hobgoblin of 'blackouts' as cover for importing fracked LNG, and Jack Chambers of FF is that soldier. put him nicely back in his box

  9. Michael Fitzmaurice has long record of denial Apart from shilling for IFA, he's also an industrial turf cutter with MASSIVE vested interest in pretending climate isn't crisis? What on Earth is he doing in the studio? Weren't we promised a serious debate?

    Poništi
  10. To correct the stream of nonsense from Fitzmaurice, Agri emissions have GONE UP by over 8% since 2015, yes, UP by 8% in just five years. And will CONTINUE to go UP, thanks to gov't policy

  11. "We're one of the most efficient producers of beef", says FF's Jack Chambers. This is factually simply completely wrong. FF rushing to prove itself as beholden to the Big Ag lobby as FG ever was

    Poništi
  12. Somebody needs to be writing a formal letter of complaint to DG at the stream of propaganda streaming unchallenged from tonight. And seemingly nobody in that studio capable of shutting this BS down

    Poništi
  13. Only a matter of time before more agri misinformation is platformed, and does not disappoint, recycling meat industry "expert" Mitloehner and his "new evidence" (all debunked by actual scientists) God help us all.

    Poništi
  14. Have to agree with Jack Chambers of . Claire Byrne engaged in truly pointless nit-picking here. What a terrible start to this section of debate

    Poništi
  15. Outrageous misrepresentation by Harold Kingston of IFA, cynically conflating emissions from horticulture (carrots) with dairy. One dairy PRO gets to speak after another, and nobody to correct their bogus framing. Boyz, this gets tiring

    Poništi
  16. OK, here we go, time to detour into the woes of the dairy industry, and more faux stats about how amazingly efficient our amazingly carbon-inefficient agri sector is

    Poništi
  17. Very well said, George Lee. The most concise description of the crunch in a long time. But I see on the panel, so watch out, here comes more industrial scale B.S. yet again...

    Poništi
  18. George Lee giving a 101 to by way of setting scene for tonight's discussion. This is the simple journalistic factual framing that has been sorely missing from much media coverage to date

    Poništi
  19. Wording in clips ahead of tonight's debate on sound a little more encouraging, but can resist temptation to turn it into yet another urban/rural bun-fight? Will find out very soon

    Poništi
  20. Ahead of tonight’s debate, here’s a quick reality check: we teeter at the edge of an unfathomable ecological abyss. This one time, can treat this with gravity it desperately warrants?

    Poništi
  21. Very much enjoyed taking part. Well done for making this happen
