So I finally listened to Taylor Swift's Folklore. It's good. It's damn good actually. I definitely like the minimalist "indie" approach she took, as opposed to the bombastic (I just needed a cool adjective ok) hip-hop influenced sound she's had lately.
That doesn't mean it's not an absolute banger and a clinic in songwriting. Damn can she write a fucking song. Holy shit she's good. No lie, lyrically it's near perfect.

It's also started some weird lesbian conspiracy theories since some people don't realize you can write from different perspectives. The song Betty is what I'm referencing. Shes clearly just telling a story. I wanna say there's a mini concept album hidden within it.

Which of course makes me wanna hear a concept album from Taylor Swift. Like some Coheed And Cambria, The Dear Hunter type shit. Why she hasn't done this yet, idk. She's more than capable.

If I were an actual reviewer and could give it a score, I'd say somewhere between 7 and 8 out of 10. Only reason I wouldn't put it higher is, well, it's not exactly a fun album. It's not really supposed to be though, so maybe that's not fair. But I can't see having it on repeat.

Like I definitely recommend you set aside the time to sit and listen to it. But it's not like, fun to listen to. It's fucking sad. It makes you feel things. Sad things. It hits you in your 16 yr old emo phase and doesn't let up. Just pummeling your lowest emotions the whole time.

But, it's worth the trip into that sad place you keep hidden away in the back of your mind. It's an album that I needed to hear. It's Taylor probably at her best lyrically, and emotionally. Its just a damn good album. Go listen to it.
