hello! Do you think any of your followers would have a use for this....amstrad pcw8512? Powers up and whirs but doesn’t load, have new belts for drives in case that’s the fault. Free and needs to be collected from LE67 6HJ 👍👍👍 cheers 🍻🍻

Gotta love the look of that discrete early Nixie-tube count+driver module for an old Anadex timer/counter. Quite the artwork. At some point I have to frame this and hang it on the wall!

Here 2 more X-Rays of Casio Pocketcomputers First is the PB-2000C (was repairing the connecting cables between the 2 halves) Second one is the FX-890P, the first Japanese 16bit Pocketcomputer (80C186 Processor)

  6. Now it feels like this thing is a lost cause. Burnt resistors, blown up shunts, no docs. And now the broken shaft and the glued on knobs. Meh.

  7. The white stuff is felt and belongs there. But it is wedged between the knob and the shaft, and it looks like a seam of glue around it. Bugger.

  8. Or maybe not. Tried to take of the knobs to look under the PCB. The shaft of the range switch snapped off. Looks like they glued it in place. Mode switch doesn't budge either. Grrrrrrrr! 🤬

  9. And this resistor shouldn't have a tan like that. Okay, that's three issues identified. One of them is semi-solved. Shouldn't give up on this meter too soon. Going to do some work on it next week.

  10. Oh, there's another oopsie! That wire should be red, not black. 🤔

  11. On the other hand, a full disassembly would give me the chance of tracing the PCB and creating my own schematic.

  12. This Elavi might be due a full disassembly/autopsy unless I can find the proper docs. I can't break it much more than the kids in the school I got it from. It's pretty messed up.

  13. The bodge was here, quite a while ago. Interestingly, the current is about 25% high. And I only found one pot that adjusts the current display marginally. The other 3 pots seem to do nothing. Sadly, no documentation available for the Elavi 6.

  14. Remember my adventures with that Elavi 6 and my bodge shunt? Yeah, it kinda works. Brings me within 3% error on volts. Current is showing too high, though.

I've had this idea in the back of my head for I think over a year now to make my custom font a typing element. This rocks someone has done it now. It definitely needs to be an SLA and I wouldn't mimic the internal structure and try to make it stronger.

  18. The bag contains my 22uF/100V caps. I considered using these instead of the old 30uF ones, but decided to order the correct 33uF/25V ones. Same with the 100uF/160V. Oddly, I have none of that voltage in stock.

  19. Well, I'm a couple capacitors short. And I don't feel like doing half the work now and leaving the rest until later. Caps ordered, should be here next weekend. With the BNCs sorted, this should be all the repair it needs.

  21. That's two things off the list. Russian very much resemble agricultural machinery. At least with those fender washers. 😄
