Convinced banking in the Netherlands is the most frustrating part about living here. They're hell-bent on making spending money as difficult as possible.

1/ [over generalization] The Netherlands is fundamentally terrified of credit cards, so the system here is predicated around Maestro, a type of local-only card that you need a BSN (social security number) to get. It's 'modern' but incredibly insular.

It’s free and easy to use tho. And direct withdrawal from bank account without limits.

That’s not different from many countries (France, UK, Sweden, etc) with actually useful debit cards
