So many hate AMP but it seems to me they aren't forcing anyone to use it. On the other hand Google is trying to force an end to HTTP. That imho is a lot more severe, dangerous and an existential threat to the open web.

They're putting AMP articles and *only* AMP articles above the fold for many mobile searches. The AMP carousel plus search bar etc takes the whole screen up.

Yes but they created their search engine. We may not like what they do with it, but It's their product. There's only one web. Google, along with Mozilla are trying to own it the way Google owns their search engine.

Google is definitely leveraging their monopoly in one area (search) to get people to use something else (amp). That’s abuse of market power
