How come you have the impression I'm assuming that roads will be free? If current car users are paying for road infrastructure, why wouldn't future car users?
Current car users are not paying for roads. https://frontiergroup.org/reports/fg/do-roads-pay-themselves … This again, doesn’t touch land costs. My feeling is that transport should have to compete for scarce land, just like coffee shops and laundromats.
Status quo says “land for buildings is scarce, so let’s have a bidding war to see which land use will pay the most” but for transport we say “no matter how much land you want per person, the land is free”
