@ThijsNiks Have you thought much about the home recharging challenge for EVs? Ie power grid issue, not charge points. Apparently if more than 15% of homes had an EV, individual streets would brownout. Perhaps the cars could talk to share charging time to a combined max ampage?

We will have fewer cars, so won’t be a huge increase. I further expect up to date electricity pricing, which should disincentivize peak usage.

It’s also no rocket science: We know how to generate and transport electricity. With increased demand we will have funds available for investment.

True, but parallels to broadband coverage. Took time. Fixed line superfast broadband isn’t rocket science either but 7% of UK premises still lack it. Private sector only got to 70% coverage, rest required £1.6bn of public funding. Urban road digging & rural last mile challenges.

The electricity grid upgrade will luckily be more gradual than the broadband one, so I have good hope. Though I absolute foresee a strong need for government supporthttps://twitter.com/thijsniks/status/947114171518332928 …

The majority of public transport needs will be covered by car sharing platforms. Though there will still be a role for governments to incentivize coverage in low utilization/high-cost areas (i.e., rural).
