Child seats will also no longer be needed in fully self-driving cars, as the safety incident rate will be tiny

Perhaps. Transition period is going to be difficult. It only works if 100% are self-driving. And don’t forget pedestrians & cyclists etc. Plus, unless you literally ban human driving, there will always be those who want to go manual (and petrol).

The advantage is that self-driving can be introduced slowly, as sharing platforms keep lowering their prices and solving for additional use cases. Human driving will be banned from highways and insurance will become prohibitively expensive
