I prefer reliable and affordable public transport, not to mention bicycles. They're not in this story, I guess because Uber doesn't like them.https://twitter.com/ThijsNiks/status/947107828317159424 …

Maaike de Laat added,
All of it. Especially the part about roads not needing signs anymore...
I don’t expect bikes go away, but I do expect mass transport to be replaced by carpool vehicles as decentralized software becomes more user-friendly than centralized infrastructure. Why go from home to a station to connect somewhere etc, if you can go direct for the same cost?
There will obviously be a need for street name signs, pedestrian crossings, bike paths, etc. However, the far majority of signage is for cars and we won’t need physical versions of that anymore.pic.twitter.com/WMc0StWnAl

And bikes are great, but will never cover 100% of our transport needs nor are they competitive with most train rides. How electric bikes vs self-driving cars vs metro will develop will be interesting to see though.https://twitter.com/ThijsNiks/status/947113984536272898 …
Thijs Niks added,
Of course they won't. But they're a great, clean and healthy alternative for trips <10 km. And I'm not talking about *electric* bikes.

I actually loooove electric bikes. My expectation is that they will bring easy and healthy transport to many more cities. And at a faster pace than self-driving willhttps://twitter.com/thijsniks/status/947115077169184769 …
