it's feels backward that phone numbers are used as identification. I just had to switch SIM card to log in to

It's the only universal way of authentication if you don't want to use passwords everyone forgets or email addresses nobody has

I think it makes perfect sense. I wouldn't want people to find PII (which a username could be) based on my phone number...
