My most unpopular transit opinion is that the historical San Francisco streetcars sacrifice rider comfort for the aesthetic preference of non-riders. We should replace them with modern trams.pic.twitter.com/r4jqOvortN

I get it. I was wondering the same. Is this just for tourists, or does this solve a real problem? The number of cars was strange in that part of SF. Back home, it would have been a high-quality tram (with wifi and charging ports). Do locals use these?
Most locals will use the underground trams and metros, while the overground ones are used more by tourists. But I’m pretty sure locals would love to use a modern above ground tram!
I had a nice talk with a train conductor when I traveled by train from SF to Googlehq. DEDICATED trains and platforms for the hourly service. Such a waste. Mind was blown when I told her about our 10 min system at every major city in the Netherlands.
When I visited Silicon Valley for the first time, I didn’t realize public transport was non-existent and foolishly tried to get everywhere by transit anyway
