A bigger part of the challenge I find is that Android keeps reinventing notifications UX with every release. Just hard to keep up with that much change

Haha I'm the opposite of this, I swear the iOS notification system is incoherent. No way to find anything outside of a sea of red dots

The philosophical difference seems to be that Google assumes you get many notifications and they need to apply prioritization, minimize badge size, etc. Whereas Apple assumes you only turn on notifications for a handful of important things, so signal to noise ratio is high.

Dieter’s problem is that he allows every stupid app to send him notifications. Instead, life is much better if you only give that privilege to a few apps.
