Not an article but anecdotes: My first US bank I banked with closed my account when I said on the phone that I wish US banks would be more like EU banks after some issue. He just said “I don’t think you can bank with us anymore.” They sent a check by mail with the balance

I'd been comparing the US to the UK, but you're right: the EU is a much more sensible comparison

UK is really quite good as well, retail banking is so seamless everyone just takes it for granted here.
