It surprised me to learn, after starting to wear a fitness tracker again during the pandemic, that days when I did what felt like a crazy amount of running (≥10k) ended up burning scarcely more than a day with the normal sorts of errands and walkin' around I did pre-pandemic.

Was also looking at this data to see what I did differently in 2014, when I was in my best shape. Data defied my memory: I still ate like crap, but largely didn't drink, did more lifting than cardio, and had more walking built into routine. 20's metabolism didn't hurt either.

The Netherlands is expected to be the only European country where the obesity rate will go down this decade, partially because bicycling is taking a growing share of work and school trips
