The Social Network was just a movie about a shareholder dispute at Facebook https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1285016/ … So when I worked at Uber from 2014 till 2019, it was always clear that it’d need a full HBO series to do the craziness justice. I have a plot, but let’s start with the casting 🧵pic.twitter.com/uSdHuWJqvx

To play Uber CEO Travis Kalanick (left), ‘Billions’ creators Brian Koppelman and David Levien selected Joseph Gordon-Levitt (right) https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/joseph-gordon-levitt-travis-kalanick-showtime-uber-series-1234957960/ … Solid choice, but we can do better!pic.twitter.com/fsSzwzrgrT

Next up: Emil Michael (left)! Many juicy Uber stories eventually involve him as Uber’s Chief Business Officer and Travis’ right-hand man. Javier Bardem would be a perfect fit!pic.twitter.com/UQIIkiKeVx

Even though Uber likes to position itself as a tech startup, the Operations organization was by far the largest team at the company and drove its growth. Any series worth its salt will have to include Ryan Graves, Rachel Holt, Andrew Macdonald, and Pierre-Dimitri Gore-Coty.

Ryan Graves (left) was Uber’s original CEO and longtime head of operations, who famously got the job after sending a tweet to Travis https://twitter.com/ryangraves/status/7422940444 … He also popularized the term ‘super pumped’ https://techcrunch.com/2010/12/22/uber-ceo-super-pumped-about-being-replaced-by-founder/ … Josh Meyers would be a great choice!pic.twitter.com/mXIvivZbqM

Rachel Holt (left) started as general manager of Washington DC, took over East, added the West Coast, and eventually became the regional general manager of the U.S. & Canada. We have to get Gal Gadot for thispic.twitter.com/zeQTwxrvm3

Andrew ‘Mac’ Macdonald (left) was originally general manager of Toronto, took over Chicago and then Central U.S., before taking on Latin America and APAC. He now runs the whole Operations organization, after Graves and Holt left. Paul Bettany is our man for this role!pic.twitter.com/z05Hgc4Uf4

Pierre-Dimitri Gore-Coty (left) was general manager for Paris, then France, Western Europe, EMEA, and eventually all Rides business outside the U.S. — before taking over Uber Eats. I present: Dominic Cooperpic.twitter.com/wSH5niX6PV

China was by far the craziest country to operate in, so Liu Zhen as former VP should have a role. Yang Mi would be a good fit!pic.twitter.com/Y56hqXxwG6

On the tech side, any good storyline starts with Jeff Holden (left). He came from Amazon, by way of Groupon. Ostensibly to take over the Product org, but primarily to push big bets like UberPool, self-driving cars, and autonomous helicopters. Kevin McKidd is our choicepic.twitter.com/YU1KzGruKT

Anthony Levandowski (left) is the self-driving car man. This whizzkid got into a $120m salary dispute with Google, burned through billions to develop autonomous cars at Uber, and received an 18-month jail sentence for stealing secrets. Clearly a role for Matthew Goodepic.twitter.com/OHS7vFJaVH

The literally and figuratively towering Bill Gurley (6ft9 or 206cm) was the board member who cut Travis’s reign short. Come at the king and you best not miss! There aren’t many actors with a similar stature, but Brad Garrett comes close!pic.twitter.com/B4VYLiCd2o

And any Uber tv series will have to end with the introduction of Dara Khosrowshahi (left) as the new CEO. How about Colin Farrell for that role?pic.twitter.com/C9ZB0tR5vH

This would be an epic cast for the craziest American business story of the last decade, which fills at least 3 epic seasons. Who else would you add?
