I’m trying to figure out how to send $6000 from my Chase bank account to my wife’s Chase account for our income tax payment and the answer is to either:
- Write a free paper check
- Send $2000 for 3 days through Zelle
- Pay $25 for a wire transfer

wait — why don’t you just pay the IRS $6000 from your chase account?

Joint return so the money has to come out of one bank account

is that true? I paid my taxes out of several different accounts this year, not all of which are owned by me. I don’t think the IRS cares where the money comes from?

Honestly, I haven’t tried it and didn’t bother to ask my tax advisor because it was easier to solve my transfer problem. But the IRS website seems to imply they debit one payment from one account https://www.irs.gov/payments/pay-taxes-by-electronic-funds-withdrawal …pic.twitter.com/unUS1QepNT

yeah, one payment will come out of one account but you can make more than one (generally, two) payments towards a single tax return. if it’s easier to transfer, that’s great! just wanted to let you know another option
as originally it didn’t sound that easy to transfer1 reply 0 retweets 1 like
Yeah, it wasn’t! Good to know about the multiple payments though
