I’m trying to figure out how to send $6000 from my Chase bank account to my wife’s Chase account for our income tax payment and the answer is to either:
- Write a free paper check
- Send $2000 for 3 days through Zelle
- Pay $25 for a wire transfer

France still uses checks though and that’s a problem

That's another interesting problem. They are mainly used by small businesses (e.g. smaml B2B suppliers, private teachers, doctors), who do not have accounting and reconciliation software to monitor incoming bank transfer. Thisbis changing

They are low and that's good! I can't explain why though. Strong authentication/ 4 party digital mandate would make it even more reliable

I suspect direct debit fraud is mostly low because reversing them is easy and punishment of the offending bank is severe, so they limit which customers are allowed to even do these (utilities yes, most others no).
