After reading the Bill G book, it got me on a kick of seeking out more good-faith positions on spectrum of political approaches to stop climate change (the debate is usually framed as alarmism vs denialism). Now on “How to Think Seriously About the Planet” by Roger Scutton.

What do you mean by “positions on spectrum of political approaches”? Like, what do American conservatives think? Aren’t they so far off the map from a global point of view that they aren’t very relevant?

80% of American conservatives seem like denialists/idiots — the sort of folks who protest vaccines and masks today. A good example of where there is legitimate disagreement on course of action is something like carbon taxes/use taxes vs budgets/cap and trade.

It’s been a while, but I thought most economists agreed that for any given goal in CO2 reduction, you can get the same costs/distribution using either carbon taxes or cap and trade?

I find it interesting that Biden has basically pushed aside most climate economics as unworkable thoughhttps://noahpinion.substack.com/p/why-has-climate-economics-failed …
