I can understand that sentiment, but don't think it holds true. It’s mostly a question of which set of rules we want to use at an international stage. The Chinese proposal isn’t a happy one and we shouldn’t just allow space for it “because they are big”

I consider China to be similar to the Soviet Union: Large, powerful, and built on an incompatible ideology. We should cooperate where it makes sense and fight when it threatens the global system.
