I am generally skeptical of drawing conclusions on the future of our cities post-COVID. This article however, sums up the options quite nicely. Huge opportunities for smaller, highly urban satellite cities. Less focus on the New Yorks and Londons of this world.https://twitter.com/elle_hunt/status/1320629412396560385 …

Cities are unmatched hubs for serendipity, culture, matchmaking, and innovation. They will be fine.

Oh yes, the cities will be fine. I think the cities will be better, because MORE cities will be good. It was unsustainable to focus so much on a small group of cities.

Bigger cities have better networks and are more efficient though, so I don’t see a reason why that would change

Don't you think there's an optimum? Given people's preferences, access to nature etc. Is bigger better? There's been theories that 200k is the optimum size for a city. The perfect cycling city (coincidentally)

In pretty sure the optimum is much higher than that. 200k doesn’t sustain a full economic cluster, an opera, etc
