It is beyond unreasonable that Visa, PayPal and Mastercard are all over 200 billion market cap and super high multiples, when all they offer is a service you can find for a fraction of the cost elsewhere.

Another big reason QR codes in Europe are worse than cards is the lack of feedback/reconciliation. Merchant sales and accounting systems can reliably close a transaction in under a second if you use a card, but the bank transfer doesn’t do that (yet)
